Facing the devastation after the horrible storms that passed through the Midwest has been 1 of the most tragic things I have ever witnessed.
Our church has consistently tried to send relief teams to help with wash up, comfort, as well as even relocation of residents that simply can not do it alone.
Sure, government agencies try to help too however often acquiring this help takes months. This past trip was absolutely strenuous on me as well as I am not sure if I can take multiple more. The two of us were assigned to help a family that had lost multiple of their children to the flood waters as well as it just broke our heart. Of course, by the time every one of us arrived, the waters had receded as well as the mess was left behind. The Dad was so heartbroken that she didn’t even like anything else that was lost. The two of us were able to bring relief to them through a portable shelter, clothing, as well as most importantly a portable Heating as well as Air Conditioning machine that runs on propane. There will not be any form of power there for at least a few more weeks as well as this machine would at least keep them comfortable in their makeshift home. I am sure that you have heard of, or even used, a propane powered heater, however, this was an air conditioner. Our church genuinely has an agreement with the manufacturer so that every one of us can purchase the units for a much cheaper price as well as it allows us to supply multiple of them a year to needy families. They are consistently grateful as well as surprised that they can have this comfort even though they have no electricity. I am hopeful that I can bring myself to help again although I will have to carefully consider it next time because I am not sure our heart can take it.
