Do you ever realize how much we take for granted in our own lives? There are tons of things all around our house that we rarely think about what people in other countries or situations would love to have.
I have noticed that I barely give my furnace and air conditioner any consideration until they break down. When I purchased my first house, I remember my dad telling me that I should be grateful that I have a furnace and central air conditioning in my home. When he was a kid, there was no such thing as an air conditioner, and the only heating system he had was a fireplace that he had to start every morning. He told me that I needed to take good care of my HVAC units, which meant that I should schedule for an HVAC technician to inspect my HVAC units at least twice a year. However, I never thought about my HVAC units. I never changed the air filters, cleaned the vents, cleaned the units, or anything that a normal house-owner should be doing. In fact, I realized that the only time I ever remembered my air conditioner and the furnace was when they weren’t working. All of my thoughts about my HVAC units were negative because I hated when I had to call an HVAC technician to get them working. After a few years of going through this same cycle, the HVAC technician recommended that I sign up for a semi-annual inspection for my HVAC units. I remembered what my dad said, and I agreed to his offer!
