When I got married, the last thing on my mind was divorce.
- I never wanted to divorce my wife, and I didn’t even want it to be an option.
We were madly in love, and it seemed like we would never fight about anything. They say that the majority of divorces are caused by financial issues, but I never thought that we would struggle. My wife and I both had stable jobs, and it seemed like we were untouchable when it came to finances. That was until our HVAC units started giving us a lot of trouble. When we first moved into our apartment, my wife and I had no air conditioners. However, we had saved up a significant amount of money, and we thought that it would be a good idea to invest in a central air conditioner for our home. We would drain our savings, but money is made to be spent. Since we wanted our air conditioner to be well maintained for the future, we also invested in a semi-annual HVAC inspection for both of our HVAC units. Slowly but surely, our furnace started falling apart. Every year, our furnace had major malfunctions, and we were throwing a lot of money into repairs for the HVAC unit. We wanted to be saving up money for a new furnace, but we were spending so much money on repairs that we had no option. Then one day, our furnace stopped working altogether. We had to take on a massive amount of debt for our new furnace, but we couldn’t pay it off as fast as my wife wanted to. We began stressing out about finances, and that led to a lot of fighting and screaming. Those two factors led to a divorce.
