It’s really great to see younger kids in middle school getting a taste of what working for a living will be like later on in life.
And, recently, there was this brand new heating and air conditioning company in town that was hiring the middle school kids in the neighborhood to go around the parking lots of various shopping centers to place flyers advertising the grand opening of the new heating and air conditioning company.
On the flyers were also discounts on first HVAC service. Weather it be repair or just general HVAC tune ups, the discount was opened to anyone and everyone. It was nice seeing the kids working in a way. They looked so proud and happy having some kind of job. My kid was one of those that were placing the flyers on the cars. My kid was so happy to be doing and said they wanted to do this for a living! I had to sit him down and simply explain that this is not a job that one makes a living off of, and it is what is known as a side gig or part time job. Also, I explained that working in the real world is not going to be as simple as the small task the kids were doing for this grand opening of the brand new heating and air conditioning company. It took a little while, but my kid finally understood what I was saying, but still said he enjoyed doing the flyers for the heating and air conditioning company because it was so easy.
