I was in the dentist’s office the other afternoon, not my favorite place to be, but I had an experience like none I had before. Everytime we go in for our kid’s check-ups I cringe. I am not one of these mom’s who takes them every six months like I should so it is not a pleasant event for anyone. They usually get a lecture from the dentist about cleaning their teeth better and about how the germs that stay in their mouths will decay their teeth. Meanwhile, I sit in the waiting area afraid to touch anything for fear of getting germs myself. Think I avoid medical offices in general until I have to go because the first place that you can pick up viruses, bacteria, and air borne illnesses is where people come to get better. It is almost like you can see the germs floating in the air. It all starts with the receptionist desk where you must sign in. Everyone uses the same pen, touches the same desk and then you go sit on the germ ridden chairs to wait to get called. I take as many precautions as I can and I know the offices do too. I was surprised this past time because something seemed different. The air in the office didn’t seem as stuffy as it had in the past. In fact, the air seemed pretty fresh and clean. When they called us back to the exam room, I asked the dentist about it immediately. She smiled and explained to me that they had put in a new Pure Air Filter System that their HVAC dealer had recommended. It is proven to be much better for patients and protects against 99% of air borne allergens. It filters out the germs that come through the office daily as well. I was amazed.
