The super long Winter seasons of the region that I am from are the main reason why I left the place. Back when I was a kid, my parents were incredibly poor, and life was not honestly fun. I took on my first job, off the books, when I was just 14 years old. I needed to do that just to help put bread on the table. We did not have a vehicle so any commute, whether to job or university, required us to be exposed to the brutal elements. We simply had to bare the cold. One thing we had plenty of were warm clothes, but no matter how heavily you bundled yourself up in those mountains, you could not take on the wind. It simply cut through you without much effort, and even though we had a wonderful fireplace in our little dwelling, the insulation was not the best. So we were frosty most of the year… Heating, Ventilation, and A/C technology at the time was not honestly very advanced, and even the basic furnaces of the time were well outside of our reach. These days, I actually live in a much warmer region. Instead of furnaces, most people here utilize air conditioning systems. There are a few months in the year where you can do without any kind of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C appliance, but most of the time, the sun is so powerful and the humidity so high, that an air conditioning appliance of considerable power is essential. I personally savor the heat. The daylight here reminds me of the fireplace in that little seasoned mountain condo where I spent my childhood years. It has the same kind of heating effect… Fortunately, here it is a gift of nature.
