The heater is filthy

Every year, we always must go through certain rituals at my office. I have worked there for a little over three years, so this will be my fourth year in the same office. I always dread the start of Winter season because the administrator who is in charge of taking good care of the building always requires the Heating, Ventilation and A/C contractor to send in an Heating, Ventilation and A/C specialist to get the furnace all set for the Winter season. I easily have never heard of doing this before, and I kind of thought it was a complete waste of cash until I learned that what he is entirely doing is getting the Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance inspected yearly. Explaining it this way makes much more sense than what he used to say, which was “making sure the Heating, Ventilation and A/C is all set for the Winter season.” Anyway, the most annoying things about this annual Heating, Ventilation and A/C maintenance are the most terrible stink and the day full of alarms ringing at the office. When the Heating, Ventilation and A/C maintenance guy arrives, he gets to taking care of the Heating, Ventilation and A/C inspection and maintenance he is supposed to do. We are always fully aware he is there because because of the bad burning stink throughout the whole site. Shortly after the stink comes the smoke alarms. Between the stinky, dusty air and the blaring alarms, I always go back to my dwelling with a headache on furnace inspection day. It seems that dust gathers on the coils throughout the year, and the first use of the furnace causes the dust to be burned off. This process causes the horrendous smell and also a touch of smoke, which sets off the smoke alarms. The administrator even has to warn the fire department so they do not send the fire trucks out to our building for a fire!
