When we had a major plumbing issue in our backyard, we were very grateful to our neighbor who lives one street over. He’s the owner of a local plumbing company, and he came right over to our flooded backyard with his industrial strength plumbing tools to help clear out the drains in our yard and get everything back to normal again. It’s nice to have someone right here in the neighborhood that you can call when there’s a plumbing emergency. Let me tell you: nothing strikes fear into your heart like a giant muddy pond seeping up higher and higher through your yard and closer and closer to your basement windows! I’m not sure what the problem was other than a clogged pipe that usually flows out through the storm drainage system, but whatever it was, he used his plumbing snake to fix it right up. I was so happy to see him coming through the gate with his plumbing tools that I honestly could have hugged him. Unfortunately, in order to do that, I would’ve had to wade through a foot of muck and mud to even get to him. He said that the plumbing back there is very old and the pipes that lead out to the storm drain can get clogged up pretty easily with tree roots and old mud and dirt that somehow gets into the pipes. He only charged us $20 to fix it and then he said that anytime it happens, just to let him know and he will be right over to help us out. I am so happy to have a professional plumber for a neighbor!
