It’s been my practice to do some improvement project on my house each year. I can’t afford to do as much as the house needs all at once, so I have basically spread out the projects over the years. I focused on the plumbing last year, and this year I am finally updating my Heating, Ventilation and A/C system. I was naturally worried about what the final cost would be, and I knew I couldn’t pay for a brand new system. But the ductwork needed to be cleaned and some of it replaced. I also wanted a gas powered instead of electric. It has always been my dream for a gas lit fireplace in the living room. One benefit of gas powered furnaces is they still operate if the power goes out from a storm or a blizzard. These things happen often in the north. Lots of homes in the area have a fireplace or wood stove just for that reason. But my house was built without one. That means that when the power goes out, so does my furnace. And no electricity means no space heaters as well. I started calling local Heating, Ventilation and A/C companies to get an idea of what they could do, then shopped around for the most affordable price. I finally chose the HVAC contractor that understood what I was looking for. They also had the best price. In a month the Heating, Ventilation and A/C team is all set to begin work and I can’t wait to finally have a gas fireplace!
