Sometimes I am so blown away by the way that people that represent their companies. As a manager, I often interacted with such unprofessional sales representatives and equipment service professionals that I became a pro at writing scathing reviews afterwards. You’d better believe that I put those same skills to work last month when I had the worst HVAC technician experience of my entire life! It all started when my furnace busted during the middle of the week. I came home from work and my house was frigidly cold inside, with the temperature control device reading a measly 35 degrees! I panicked and called an HVAC dealership immediately, without checking their credentials or online reviews. Big mistake. The phone operator promised my whole furnace would be up and running within 3 hours, but I didn’t even see a ventilation expert arrive for 6! When he finally showed up at my front door, he offered zero explanation or apology for his tardy arrival. He simply pushed past me and demanded to know where the furnace cabinet was. For the next 3 hours, I heard the loudest banging sound ringing through my house as he beat the life out of my heating system. He was swearing loudly and throwing his dirty tools all over the place, making it a real hazard to move through the house. After another hour of silence, he handed me an invoice for a staggering $1000 and walked out the door without a pleasantry. Worst of all, my furnace broke down again less than two days later. That’s the last time I schedule an HVAC appointment without checking the reviews first!
