The last few years, my family and I have relied on an air source heat pump to heat and cool our home. Our air source heat pump is perfect for our home and climate. Because we live in a relatively mild climate, the heat pump keeps us comfortable all throughout the year. Like all HVAC systems, it needs to be maintenanced regularly to make sure it’s running in a healthy, efficient manner. I make sure it’s inspected by a HVAC technician at least once a year, even if it seems to be running fine. HVAC professionals look for many things when they’re inspecting air source heat pumps. They check for any leaks, they ensure their is proper air flow, check the motor and the unit’s belts, and see if the ducts are clean. If there any issues with my heat pump, the HVAC technician will catch them before they become a serious problem. Because we use our air source heat pump all year, we usually have it inspected twice a year just in case. Our HVAC provider also has an emergency service we can call if the weather is ever severe and we’re experiencing issues with our heat pump. One thing I can do personally is change my heat pump’s filter as needed, usually once every four to six weeks. This ensures that our heater isn’t working too hard, or blowing pollutants around the house. This quick chore also keeps our heat pump working efficiently. My family and I just love the comfort our heat pump provides us with, that’s why we strive to take care of it.
