Have you ever had an elderly guest in your home for a month? I have, and let me tell you, it can be a challenge sometimes. I really wasn’t looking forward to such a lengthy visit, but, my Grandmother wanted to spend the time getting to know great grandchildren so who was I to argue. I love my grandmother but she always complains about everything. The first thing she was grumbling about was the HVAC system. She was asking when we were going to upgrade our system! She said that we should get radiant floors because it would stop the cold draft that happens each time the forced air system starts up. I really didn’t want to get into the whole thing or talk to her about how much money it would cost to completely redo the HVAC system. One day, when I walked into the living room, I asked her what she was doing, she said she was making an afghan so she wouldn’t freeze to death in our house. She always has such smart comments to make and it really drives me crazy. She did make one point that made sense, however, she said that the kids would be much more comfortable playing on the floor it if was heated. I guess I will look into the change after she goes home. I am sure that our local HVAC dealer will be glad to give me the information and an estimate on the upgrade. If I were to make the change I am sure it would not be cheap but my home may be more comfortable. I still think that my grandmother was wrong to butt into our business but something good may come from her being nosey. The kids loved having her here and listening to her stories of days gone by, so I guess it was worth it in that respect too.
