A neighbor of ours named Samantha is going to technical school here in town. She just finished with high school this year and instead of going to art school like she originally planned, she has decided to either become and electrician or a heating and cooling technician. I assume that there are a shortage of women in that line of work. So I think that it’s a genuinely great thing for him to do. She had a graduation celebration two weeks ago and while everyone was all there, she announced her plans to go to school for HVAC. You could have heard a pin drop after his announcement. His Godparents were the most shocked, since they were going to pay for her to attend a prestigious art school up north. She just said that she had changed her mind and she had become interested in heating and a/c work. She said that she couldn’t stop thinking about reading all that she could about HVAC technology. I started cheering at the end of her speech because I think going to technical school is a great idea for her. Samantha would do genuinely well at running her own heating and a/c business someday. His Grandparents looked at me for awhile like I was stupid, but I didn’t care. I’m planning on supporting Samantha while he is in her heating and cooling classes and helping her out any way that I can. It seems like his family isn’t going to be supportive of his decision, so I will! Also, I’m hoping one day to get some free advice on my furnace and my air conditioning once he becomes a certified Heating and A/C professional!
