My son, as with most young boys, likes to imitate his father. It is sweet and even comical to watch him follow his pops around much like a shadow. The other morning my husband had a list of chores that he needed to accomplish over the weekend. When the morning began, the two of them were in the bathroom together, my husband shaving plus our son pretending to do the same. When I peeked into the garage my husband was underneath our lifted sedan with our son crouched down by his legs holding a wrench. The final project of the day was to wash our outside air conditioner unit. Cleaning the outside air conditioner component is a chore that my husband has on his list every Spring. Cleaning the outside condenser component is a vital element of keeping our air conditioner running effectively. It releases the heat through the refrigerant that is absorbed from our air inside. The refrigerant flows through the condenser coils plus if it is covered in dirt it can’t release the heat. In return, the air conditioner will need to run longer try to cool our home. This will mean higher electric bills plus a possible break down from the air conditioner overheating. So, I watched my husband plus his little helper find the electrical disconnect to the outside component, then switch the position to off. My son really got to hold the water hose to spray off the grass, dirt and leaves that had gathered on the outside of the air conditioner unit. My husband sprayed the coil cleaner onto the outside component, then waited a little while for the foam to absorb the dirt on the coils. My son again had the joy of using the water hose to perform the final rinse.
