Last summer, I had difficulty falling and staying asleep. The outside temperature was consistently up in the nineties, and then the humidity was terrible. Since I don’t own a central cooling system, my partner and I no choice but to open up our windows and run power fans. The open windows let in all sorts of contaminants, including dust, pollen, and even exhaust fumes. The fans ending up blowing the pollutants around, and our room was constantly unclean. Plus, because I was breathing in all those contaminants, I battled with allergies all the time, living with frequent mild to severe headaches, stuffy nose, itchy eyes, and sore throats. The overheated conditions made it pretty much impossible to get sufficient rest, so I was exhausted and not very productive at work. I also had a stiff neck and back pain! I knew that all of these problems were a direct result of the bedroom situation. When I finally decided to get a portable air conditioner for our bedroom, I was surprised by how inexpensive it was! For a few hundred bucks, I eliminated all of these issues I’d been having. The air conditioner set right into the bedroom window, plugged in, and then it cooled the room down within fifteen minutes. We start up the air conditioner right before we hit the sack, and enjoy the gentle sound it makes all night. We keep the windows closed, which avoids both noise and dusty environment, and we certainly sleep better. The air conditioner contains a filtration system that traps airborne pollutants, so the room remains cleaner all the time and also the air is healthier.
