My best friend has a very interesting job. She buys homes in poor shape and restores them until they are ready to sell. Recently she purchased a smaller property that I thought would be the perfect fit for me at the moment, so she’s been letting me supply our opinions on the renovation of the property. One of the main things that she needed to make a decision on was the new heating and cooling system, the home had been abandoned for so long that the outdated gas furnace was completely rusted out and needed to be replaced. The walls had to be gutted as well. All that’s left is the foundation and the studs, -they’re even doing new floors. I told her I had always wanted heated floors, but I was anxious about the high cost adding to the budget. This could raise the final price of the place in order for her to make a profit! She was excited to tell me about this new heating plan she had just l heard about called an open direct radiant heater. This type of unit uses hot water sent through tubes under the floor in order to heat the entire house, and what make it recognizable is that this same plan which heats the floors can also be made to operate a water furnace thanks to the new open direct system, then combined with a modern water heater, the open direct radiant furnace can also run at even colder rapidly adjusting temperatures. I will consistently be hot no matter how cold it gets outside, not only is this plan more affordable than other types of radiant heater, however it also saves me tons of money on the water heater. She told me most folks don’t bother with it because it would be strenuous to place in a pre-existing home.
