Furnace filters have to be changed

Coming back home from a vacation is always the worst kind of reality check. One day, you’re sitting on the beach, sipping a cool drink as you bathe in the sun… and the next, you’re sitting at your desk under glaring fluorescent lights, wondering why you came back in the first place! Sure, we all assimilate back into our real lives, albeit very gradually. However, I had a most difficult time adjusting to my life last month, as I came back from vacation to find that my air conditioner broke down during my absence. My brother was house-sitting for me – or rather, he was supposed to be – and he had no idea how or why my A/C system was spitting out hot air. Fortunately, I came back to my home on a Monday afternoon, and was able to call my regular heating, ventilation and air conditioning repair guy for a service visit. Three days later, my HVAC guy Roger came to the house and took a look at my equipment. After performing a few diagnostics on the air conditioning system, and checking out the outdoor compressor and condenser, he determined that the issue was a cracked refrigerant line. I was expecting a far more serious problem like a cracked compressor, so replacing a few tubes was a welcome alternative! Roger was able to repair the refrigerant line and recharge the unit with freon that day, and my air conditioning system was back up to speed! I’m so thankful to have someone reliable like Roger around, as I can’t imagine what other heating and air conditioning contractors might have conned me into replacing in my air conditioning system. Hopefully his repairs stick, and maybe I won’t come home to a broken air conditioner after my next vacation.
