I live in what you could call a mixed community. What that means, is that there is a wide diversity in the income levels of the residents. Though many residents drive to work or school, many of us rely on public buses. Some residents own and use Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C systems to keep their homes cool and comfy, others control indoor temperatures using fans and window AC units in the summer, or space heating systems in winter. Fortunately, the differences in what we possess has no effect on our relationships as neighbors!
There is an apartment on the street next to mine, which has window mounted AC units in virtually all of the windows. A few weeks ago, I visited an old acquaintance residing in one of those apartments, and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of her indoor air! The window AC unit was blasting cool, comforting air into the room in which we were seated, all while a ceiling fan turned slowly on its lowest setting. It is amazing, how any kind of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems can transform a normal space into an incredibly cozy area to rest in. It also reinforces the point that people can find enjoyment in what they are able to afford, without the stress of reaching out for things which are beyond their financial limits. What would be the point in having a pricy Heating, Ventilation and A/C unit in your home, but you’re always sad about being behind on your monthly payments for that unit? The woman with ceiling fans and a window AC unit has no worries, as her home is just as comfy for a fraction of the cost.
So not “biting off more than you can chew”, not “hanging your hat higher than you can reach it”, and generally residing within your means are superb concepts to live by.
