I live in a mixed community. Imagine the typical “diversity” poster you see in the workplace, and that’s really how diverse it is in my neighborhood! What I mean is that there is a wide diversity in the income levels of the residents, too. Many of my neighbors drive to work or school, but many rely on the bus. Some residents own and use Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C systems, while others control indoor temperatures using fans, window AC units, and space heaters if the winter is cold enough. Fortunately, the differences in what we possess has no effect on our relationships as neighbors.
There is an house on the street next to mine, in which window unit AC systems are placed in most of the windows. A few weeks ago, I visited this one old acquaintance of mine who was living in one of these apartments. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of his indoor air, as the window AC components were blasting cool, comforting air into the room in which the two of us sat. A ceiling fan turned slowly over us, working to keep the cool air down near us. It’s just amazing to me, how any kind of Heating, Ventilation and A/C system can transform a room into a cozy space! It also reinforces the point that people can find enjoyment in what they are able to afford, without having to reach for things beyond their financial abilities. What would be the point in having a pricey Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C system in your home if you are always anxious about not making payments on it? The guy with ceiling fans and window AC unit has no worries, and likely will be a much happier person overall.
I guess the main thing to take from this is to not bite off more than you can chew. Living within your means will ensure that you are much happier in the long run, and it will help you save money, too.
