I live in what you could call a mixed community. What that means is that there is a wide diversity in the income levels of the residents, among other things. Many people here drive to work or their universities, and quite a few rely on the bus. Some residents own and use Heating and A/C systems, yet others control temperatures using a ceiling fan, window A/C units, and other cost-effective methods. Fortunately, even with the differences in what both of us possess, has no effect on our relationships as neighbors.
There is an apartment on the street next to mine, for example. They have box A/C units in most of the windows, which is just a little unsightly. A few weeks ago, I visited an old friend that was staying in one of those apartments, and I was surprised by the quality of her indoor air – it was nothing like I imagined! The window A/C unit was blasting cool, comforting air into the room where we sat to drink coffee, and a ceiling fan turned slowly on its lowest setting. It is amazing how any kinds of Heating and A/C plans are out there, which can transform a modest area into an incredibly cozy home. It also reinforces the point that people can find enjoyment in what they are able to afford, rather than reaching out for things they don’t need. Having a pricy Heating and A/C unit in your home that you can’t make payments on is kind of pointless, right? The person with ceiling fans, window A/C and no worries, would be a much happier person in that case.
With this in mind, it makes sense for people to live within their means. Doing so allows you to strive for realistic goals, and to make the most of what you have.
