I am lucky to live in a town that hosts one of the biggest fairs in the country. It’s been for the last 55 years. That is quite a long time. There has only been 2 times that the fair did not go on and it was due to flooding. The fairgrounds is close to the river. Whenever we get a lot of rain and the river goes over its banks, the fairgrounds get flooded. It takes a week or more days without rain with a lot of sunshine, to be able to go through the parking area, because you get huge mud bogs that are over the shoes deep. The stench in the parking area, is really horrendous. All you can smell is dead fish. The main fairgrounds fare a bit better. They have a lot of rock with blacktop through the main streets. Yesterday, when my pal and I were walking around the fair, we saw where one of the diners were boasting seating. There was about 7 inches of water under the benches in addition to you could smell the fish. We both had the flooding there this year, but the water went down in time to clean up for the fair. The worst was trying to get the stink off my skin. I turned on the warm water in the shower and just stood there for about fifteen minutes. I was glad for our new warm water heater. I was also cheerful that we all had the whole-home air purifier in the house. I feel some of it may have been my imagination, however I imagined that smell for hours and minutes. If not for the warm shower, whole-home air purifier in addition to the AC, I’m not sure I would have slept at all that night.
