Over the Summer I like to work part time as an usher for a theater. This particular theater has musicals, rock concerts and plays performed. The theater is quite big as well. There are two consecutive floors floors and balcony seating. It is not exhausting Summer work. I get to see a lot of diverse shows, meet fantastic people and the task is super easy. The only pitfall about the task is the AC. The air conditioning in the theater is set to sub-zero temperatures at all times. I think that the theater accommodates the acts that are being performed. The musical people wear a variety of costumes and are dancing around the stage. The lights also are directly above them for their entire performance. I have seen the people after their show, and even with the A/C running on high, they are all hot. The musicians are even sweatier. They don’t take an intermission and the musicians are all always moving, but as a non performer and someone who stands stationary most of the night, I am super cold. I usually have to wear long pants and an overcoat my whole shift. It is horrible being chilly cold the entire performance. There is no way to hide from the A/C too. The upper and lower level have rows of vents lining the floor. The A/C literally blows up my pants for hours on end. The balcony has the ductworks right above the seats, then so if I task there, I get A/C blowing down on me. So while I love my job position and how easy it is, I don’t think I could go more than a single Summer working there.
