Way back in the day, I hung out with a entirely tough crowd. Many of our pals from High School overdosed on drug or another or lost their lives in tragic car crashes. Many of those were either drunk or on pot. I knew that I didn’t want to end up like them for sure. I managed to avoid that style of living for years until one day when a doctor prescribed an opiate pain killer for my issues. I was hurt at work and the back pain was beyond belief. I took the pill as prescribed for a while until I felt that it wasn’t working for me that well. I slowly started taking more and more until I was addicted to the pills. Life took a turn for the worst and I lost sight of where I hoped to be. Then, one day I read about a clinic that used medical marijuana to deal with the withdrawal effects of opiate addiction. The clinic has just started and they were in the process of screening patients. I was not certain I was ready to be a guinea pig of any type, however it had to be better than the life I was going through. I was worried due to the addiction and our family had pretty much given up hope of me ever getting back from the hole I was in. I pulled myself together and went to apply to their plan. I worked with the clinic for almost 3 months and I was able to finally call myself clear of the addiction that had controlled my own life.
