When I travel, I always try to stay in affordable, yet well maintained hotels. This requires me to do quite a bit of research on the internet before booking where I’ll be staying for the vacation. This year I decided to take a week-long trip to Central America, so it took me several months to look into the best sites to stay while there. I knew that the climate in Central America is hot and humid, and fully expected that some accommodations would not have adequate cooling systems. This is one of my biggest concerns while travelling because I am not used to sleeping without air conditioning. In fact, I learned just how much I can’t sleep without it a few years ago when my Heating, Ventilation and A/C unit stopped working entirely. I didn’t sleep for several of the nights while I waited for the Heating, Ventilation and A/C technician to come and make the necessary repairs. So I knew I wanted to be very careful to find hotels or resorts that had modern cooling systems. I did end up finding some pretty nice (and affordable) places to stay, and it made me start getting excited about the vacation. Just knowing that I would have a climate-controlled room to go to at the end of a long day of exploring made my trip seem all the better. All of my advanced planning took quite some time, but I ended up having the time of my life. And this was all because I put in the extra effort beforehand An air conditioner is a necessity in my book, which is why I am willing to go the extra mile to find the perfect place to stay.
