I put off changing out the roof of my apartment for as long as possible… I just didn’t want to face the disruption, mess or expense, but my home is well over a hundred years old, plus the roof had been patched several different times. It simply wasn’t possible to install a new roof on top of so many layers, and the whole thing needed to be torn off, during the process, there was a tremendous amount of dust, dirt plus debris in my yards, gardens and apartment as well. Every single room was so dirty. We also had to deal with an abundance of bugs, plus overheated, sticky conditions. The roofing project was handled while we were in the middle of late July, when the outside temperature reMEd in the high eighties with brutal humidity! With the roof torn off, we weren’t able to operate the air conditioning. Both of us tried running electric fans, but they simply kicked all of the dust around the area. My whole family was worried for the project to be complete! Once the new roof was in site, I quickly went ahead and lowered the control component plus started up the central air conditioning. I assumed it would take several hours to bring the entire apartment down to a comfortable level. Instead, the air conditioning reached the control component level within two or three hours. There were no hot spots or unpleasant temperature stratification. The air conditioning is now able to maintain a much more even temperature. Along with that, my monthly electric costs are significantly less luxurious. When the Winter weather showed up, I noticed the gas furnace running for shorter cycles. I was able to lower the control component setting separate from sacrificing comfort. Putting on the new roof was a extravagant replace, but will most certainly spend money for itself in reduced heating plus cooling bills throughout the twelve months that year.
