Although I am not a devoutly religious person in any one faith I do consider myself deeply spiritual.
The idea of mind of matter, and that a person’s spirit or soul can influence their physical form, is a very captivating one to me.
I have read books from many philosophies from all around the world, many of them coming at the same idea from different perspectives, and I am as fascinated as ever. Over the years I have gotten to be good friends with a man named Carl, who shares my intellectual passions to some degree. The first time I went to Carl’s house I asked why the air conditioning was not on. It was a summer night, well over 90 degrees even at this time of night, and although his home had a central HVAC system it was not on. When I went to look at the thermostat I saw there was a thin film of dust on it, as if it had not been used in quite some time. Carl explained to me that he taught himself to not rely on air conditioning, and trained his body to not need it. True to his word, there I am radiating heat like a furnace and there Carl is not even sweating a little bit. He seemed plenty cool to me, but he explained it took several weeks of learning to not need air conditioning to get to this point. Mind definitely trumps matter, because this man had mastered the art of cooling himself down using only his cool thoughts.
