All through my childhood my younger sister and I had an arrangement — She would help myself and others with class papers, and I would help my sister with bullies.
Tammy was skinny and weak and small and smarter than anyone in any of her classes.
All of these qualities drew her unwanted attention from the larger, nasty girls, so I was always there to fight her battles. In return, Tammy would write out some cheat sheets for my tests, because the two of us both knew studying would not be enough for me. My sister got the brains, I got the edge, and the two of us paired up. These days, 25 years later, my sister owns a big AC service business, and I am in charge of managing the floor, and don’t get it wrong, I don’t know the first thing about oil furnaces or a/cs. I even use a smart thermostat so I don’t have to think about messing around with the buttons. But I am floor manager over all the skilled Heating, Ventilation, and A/C techs, because I am the 1 who keeps everything fair and in line. Just like when the two of us were little, people try to push Tammy around, even her own Heating, Ventilation, and A/C workers from time to time, so I am there to be the edgy one that doesn’t let it happen. This isn’t school, and I don’t get into fights with trained Heating, Ventilation, and A/C dealers, that would be stupid.
