Everyone deals with a breakup differently. I have never been really great at being dumped, and when Stella called it quits I had a rough time for a few weeks. I stayed in my undies, lived almost truly on chocolate and booze, and never once thought about hitting the treadmill. It took myself and others a while to process it, and another while to be alright with it, but finally I got to a point where I was glad Stella was gone, and I was ready to move on with my life. It was only then that I realized how stinky the air quality in my loft had turned. The aroma of food and rotting things clung to the walls like excess moisture, and it was going to take more than a dehumidifier to get rid of it. Of course there was also real moisture on the walls, so I did use my dehumidifier, but that was only a space of my house-wide clean up. I opened the doors and windows for lots of natural ventilation and fresh air, using the main breeze to clear out the excruciating memories. After I got the air quality back to a better level I turned on the AC and started running it on its highest setting for a few days straight. I always use the greatest, biggest HEPA air filter I can, and it does wonders for getting rid of the stinky matter from the air. While the AC was running I also lit some candles and sprayed the house, to try and circulate those superb smells.
